Anne Boleyn Cross Stitch Pattern

My latest project is studying faces in cross stitch patterns. I want to design some gorgeous lady cross stitch designs but I know that the face has a lot to do with the overall finish of the design. I know for me, if the face doesn't look correct or pretty in a pattern it kind of turns me off of stitching it, or I try to change it to fit with the pattern so I am happy with it.

My first cross stitch pattern that I have designed is Anne Boleyn, King Henry VIII second wife. I tried giving her a slim, long face and I came up with this cross stitch portrait :

I even included her iconic B necklace and pearls. She is of course adorned in beads and metallic threads to show her status.

New Pattern!

I have a new cross stitch pattern out this month in The World of Cross Stitching issue 225 (on sale now in England). It is a baby sampler with the baby poem "Babies Don't Keep" and includes an antique style baby pram in the pattern.

It has been suggested that the pram could be stitched on its own as a baby card or a quick gift for a friend. I also stitched this one myself, so although I wasn't updating frequently I was stitching, just couldn't share it until now.

I can't wait to show you all my future designs as I am really excited for some that are upcoming!

Modern London England Cross Stitch Pattern

Hi all! I have finally found some time to sit and design a pattern I have been wanting to do for a while now. I have this fascination with England and I am dying to go to London eventually for an extended visit to explore and take in the culture. I would love to be able to see the country side as well and stay in some bed and breakfasts and scout out some castle ruins.

Shannon Wasilieff's Modern London Cross Stitch Pattern

The stitch count is 110w by 40h and contains 9 DMC colours in full stitches with no back stitching or quarter stitches. It is a take on the modern style that seems to be popular right now but with shading so I guess you could say it is "semi modern". So you have the London Eye, a Double Decker Bus, London Bridge and some other London things. I am pretty tempted to stitch this one up and make it into a pillow so I can remind myself of where I want to be in a few years time.

Teacups Cross Stitch Patterns

So I am pretty excited. The World of Cross Stitching's issue 217 has a preview of my teacups and tea bag gift tag cross stitch patterns that will be published in issue 218! The release date for The World of Cross Stitching is June 19, 2014 in England.

It is still pretty surreal seeing my patterns being published. I get excited seeing them in print and can't wait to see more in the future!

French Princess Shoes WIP

The wisdom tooth surgery went very well! It was all over by noon and I had a very yummy smoothie for lunch and that's about all I remember. Apparently the first thing I said to my dad when I came to was "I want to stitch my Cinderella" which probably wouldn't have been the greatest idea! The rest of the afternoon and evening I was passed out and not fully with it. Around 3am though I woke up and decided I needed to do some stitching. That lasted for about a half hour before I realized I was dozing off again. Oh and I bought a cross stitch magazine on my iPad...don't recall doing that, thought it was a dream! It was the new World of Cross Stitching magazine with Joan Elliott's Christmas motifs so obviously I needed it.

Yesterday and the day before I pulled out one of my own patterns to stitch the model. The shoes have been sitting patiently in the bookcase waiting to be picked up again. I don't take too many photos of it because it is difficult to photograph. The photo doesn't do it any justice. All of the colours are jewel tones and they do look awesome together.

I am nearing half way done this pattern. Once the beads are on I think I am going to be madly in love with it. Still unsure what type of frame I will pick out for it or if it will need a matt, but I have plenty of time to figure that out.

New Patterns!

Sorry I haven't blogged in a few weeks. I was away house and cat sitting (and I think it is safe to say I would love to have a cat in my life after house sitting these two lovely cats!) for an entire month. During those four weeks away from home I managed to design two different patterns.

Peppermint Avenue by Lasting Allure Designs

I submitted this to a couple magazines but unfortunately missed the Christmas deadlines. It is now available through my Etsy site as well as each individual house for those who only want to stitch one. The stitch count is 200w by 80h and would make a lovely fireplace mantel piece or wall hanging for Christmas.

Another pattern I designed:

 This pattern is Halloween Tree. It has a combination of 2 over 2 and 1 over 1 stitching. I realized I didn't have any Halloween patterns and thought I should change that! I have a few more Halloween patterns in mind to design this month as well as a few more Gingerbread ideas!

I'm Back!

Since February I haven't been all that productive in my cross stitching life. However after getting into a routine with school and forcing myself to relax when I get home I have managed to balance work and play. School is coming to an end in April, and I am really sad about that! I have met some wonderful people in that class and I enjoy going to class every day.

About 2 weeks ago I sat down and felt like designing a cross stitch pattern. I haven't done that often but I am going to set a goal of designing one per month from here on out. I need to do something creative or else I will go stir crazy.

I love the colors in this pattern. They go so well together and they remind me of spring and tea parties! Each dress has their own personal details. Of course there are beads and Krienik in them, it wouldn't be one of my designs without any! Here they are all stitched up with the beads:

They are stitched on 32 count Mushroom. Very antique looking almost. I will probably put them into a small frame sometime later this month. I just adore them!

Progress On Marie Antoinette Cross Stitch

First off I want to thank all of my new followers this past week (And all of those from previous months). I get super excited when I see other people have followed my blog! Really means a lot to me knowing others like the work I am doing.

Now last night I raided my stash and found all of my threads for Marie Antoinette. I also found some fabric in the color Platinum! I laid the colors on top of it and they seem to have popped off and complimented one another on it. The blue looks SUPER good on it and I can't wait to stitch that part. I spent the afternoon stitching and managed to get the bodice done tonight.

All those holes are beads hehe. I decided to stitch this one first because I felt the digital representation didn't do the design much justice with all of the beads in her and the sparkles. If this one turns out I plan on doing at least another two to have a little series of them. And once I have a couple patterns I might approach my local cross stitch store to see if they maybe would be interested in purchasing some to sell.

Mary Antoinette Cross stitch Pattern

Ok it isn't completely Mary Antoinette but I was inspired by the movie to use soft pastel colors and details in her dress.

This elegant lady is ready for the ball in her gorgeous beaded and metallic dress. There are beads on every part of her gown. Little flower detailing is made using beads and the steams are stitched using #4 very fine braid on her fitted top. White beads scatter along the full gown bottom like polk-a-dots and blue beads create another flower design on the pink part of the gown. Her hair also has beads making up the little jeweled parts that match her necklace.

I had fun designing this one. Took me a total of 20 hours to design it fully. I am going to stitch this one up I think so people can see what it would look like with all of the beads. I promise it will look extravagant and elegant and worth the struggle of applying all of the beads.
