Cinderella is Done

I can finally say I am done the stitching on my Heaven and Earth Design Cinderella by Ruth Sanderson (retired). The design is full cross stitches 2 over 1 on 18 count fabric. Took roughly 3 years to stitch, working on her on again and off again.

I am going to give her a bath once I have some free time and plan on adding a few beads to it as well as some back stitching. She is going to be an elaborate oil painting style frame and is going to hang in my bedroom by my hanging lamp chandelier once I have painted my room a light periwinkle.

My next Heaven and Earth Design  pattern is Faery 2 by Nadia Strelkina.

I currently have 800 stitched into it already. I have a lot of commission work to do though so she is put aside for now. Stitching her on 18 count fabric 2 over 1 again.

2014 HAED Goals Met!

My 2014 goals for Heaven and Earth Designs were met this year. My full year goal was to finish 2 full pages and 1 partial page. I had almost met this by June so I decided to go ahead and aim for a finish of the column to have her 75% done. Well I have managed to do a bit more on her and now only have 3 pages left to complete!!!

She is so close to being done that I can feel it! Too bad I have a lot more work to do this month that she won't be picked up again until later in January.

Hoppy Easter

Just stopping by for a quick hi and to wish you all a Hoppy Easter. The bunny isn't visiting me this year but I did end up making chocolate chip cookies for my get together tonight with my brother and his fiance. Going to play some Mario on the Wii...or should I say they are going to play some Mario on the Wii while I keep "bubbling" so I don't die or get in the way in the game lol.

I have been working on Cinderella while I have been busy house sitting. In the past 2 months I have been home for maybe 2 weeks. Other than that I have been shuttling between houses to look after critters, so I have kept it simple with one project that's on Aida and I won't finish any time soon.

HAED Cinderella by Ruth Sanderson (retired)

400 stitches shy of finishing that half of the cropped pattern. I was able to go replenish my threads a few weeks ago so I have plenty of 152 and 223 now to go back to working on her gown. I think Cinderella is going to need a very fancy and ornate frame when she is done, something you see old oil paintings in I think that will make a statement.

HAED Cinderella Page 7 Done!

Hi all! Last week and a half I have been house sitting and unfortunately the lighting isn't the greatest for working on linen so I have had to put Arezzo off to the side for the time being. However....I have managed to work on Cinderella, artwork by Ruth Sanderson, and got another page done on her!

That is a total of 7 pages, only 9 more to go and 6 of those pages are partials, so maybe just maybe I will be able to finish it this year! It is amazing to look back and see how far I have come in the past year since picking it up again last March. It will be exciting to finally finish it and have it framed so I can gawk at it all day. I just LOVE it. Already deciding what my next project will be....

HAED Cinderella Update

Since January I have been able to get some stitching done on my Heaven and Earth Design Cinderella by Ruth Sanderson. She has a face!! It is so pretty.

Not only does she have a face, but she also has a torso and pretty pink bows and a few more birds. I am enjoying this stitch so much and it truly is unfortunate this is a retired chart because it is so beautiful.

My goal is to finish 2 full pages and 1 partial for this year. So far I have almost half a full page done.  It would be wonderful to finish it this year but that doesn't seem feasible due to other responsibilities and patterns I want to work on. I am still averaging about 400 stitches a day on the days I work on her, but I have been working on other projects that I cannot share on here for a few months. Keep checking back to see what they are! 

6 Pages Done on Cinderella!

YAY!! I just finished the sixth page of my Heaven and Earth Design Cinderella! I wanted to have the six pages completed before the new year. I was stitching gong ho on this piece and averaging 800 stitches a day until I hit a wall with 100 stitches left. I just finished it up tonight :)

Again this is a HAED. Artwork is by Ruth Sanderson and it is stitched on 18 count aida. I have 34,200 stitches so far in it and not at the half way point just yet.

I have been working on other projects, but alas, I cannot show them yet because they are secret. Hope everyone is stitching lovely Christmas items too! Tonight I am going to finish one more ornament for an ornament exchange so it can be sewn together in the morning and sent off on Thursday. Happy Holidays everyone from your northern Canadian friend! :)

Future HAED Project!

During the 50% off sale Heaven and Earth Designs put on I came across this lovely cross stitch pattern of Myles Pinkney's artwork. I loved the colours and had to have it!

The purple background has already been removed so it is an oval pattern with many partial pages in the 35 pages of the pattern. There are 90 pretty DMC colours in this pattern with many blues and purples. I have bought everything for it already and plan on cross stitching it on the 18 count fabric that I had found in Michaels. I was actually shocked I found it there because it is a HUGE piece...I bought two hehe! Thankfully I had a 25% off my entire purchase so it only made sense...right?

HAED Cinderella 4 Pages

Four pages of my Heaven and Earth Design Cinderella are done! The red brick wall has formed and I am now working on her dress. The bright pink bow has already shown up!

My half year goal on the HAED bulletin board was to have two partials and one full page done for a total of six pages complete on Cinderella and to have one full page of Ruth Sanderson's Golden Wood done. I think I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew considering I wasn't expecting the 50% off sales and found a new pattern I fell in love with. We shall see how the next four months pan out to see if I can reach this goal and maybe sneak in a new start.

HAED Progress

I managed to work on Cinderella some more. She is farther along than the photo posted below but I had to put her away a few weeks ago before going to Vancouver to visit family. Right before we left my mom bought me 4 HAED charts for my birthday so naturally I had to start one of the new ones last week.

I started Golden Wood the other week. I have over 800 stitches into it. Over the last weekend I put it away so I could stitch on my Joan Elliott Christmas Angle while my mom and I watched season 3 of Justified. Golden Wood is on a huge standing tapestry frame my nan gave to me during our visit. It is the perfect size for most of my HAED I want to do! As you can tell I am a pretty big Ruth Sanderson fan!

HAED Kick Once Again

With all of this spare time again I don't know what to fully do with myself yet! I did start cross stitching another pattern a few days ago. It is Ivy by Nora:

 

I have done a bit more on her but alas, she got pushed to the side when I was inspired to work on a Heaven and Earth Design once again! I ended up pulling out my Cinderella by Ruth Sanderson again and have managed a few stitches into her!

She sure is going to be pretty when done. I am already dreaming about the frame she will go in!

I am Bad

It was so wrong but it just felt so right! I started a new Heaven and Earth Design...hehe. Its a Quick Stitch (QS) by Josephine Wall. It is called Spirit of Winter Faery. A QS is a cropped portion of a painting or a picture that is then turned into a reasonable size for stitching, which is really convenient if you feel over whelmed by the size of some of the other Heaven and Earth Designs. I don't have a work in progress picture yet since it isn't too much to show but here is the picture of the design:

Josephine Wall's Artwork

I really admire Josephine Walls' paintings. There is just so much detail to them and are just so intricate. The colors she uses as well are just so stunning.

I vowed to myself once I picked this up I wasn't going to start any other patterns until one of my current HAED are complete. Even if that means waiting to start Joan Elliott's Cinderella! :(

As you can see they are both complete opposites when it comes to color. The Winter Spirit is all blues and purples where Cinderella mainly consists of browns with splashed of colors into them. I will admit though I do enjoy stitching these because it allows me to examine the artwork more. Since I am an artist myself I am using these as studies to hopefully help me understand more about painting and where I should or should not use color.

Cinderella HAED Progress

After finishing off the Mirabilia mermaid, I picked up my Heaven and Earth Design Cinderella by Ruth Sanderson once again. This is a retired pattern so you won't be able to find it on the website anymore unfortunately. This is the picture of what my finished design will look like:

I ended up cropping off a majority of the wall and squaring it off so it is solely focused on the dress. I also decided that in the swirly magical dust that surrounds her I am going to add the rainbow sparkle blending filament to it to add an extra subtle sparkle for when you look at it.

I am almost done page two! I think about another day or two focused on her I will be all done the second page and then I will put her down for a few days while I focus on something else but then I will jump right back into stitching her! I think the next page I will do will be her dress! Here is the progress:

Bottom Right-Hand Corner

I wasn't too impressed with the dark colors of the grass until I finished the whole area and can now see how well they blend in together. I am super excited about finishing this one and I already have plans for starting a Josephine Wall HAED! I will admit it I am addicted...
